September 28–October 21 - Celebrate With Fathers 4 Kids by attending the Texas State Fair.
The 2018 theme for the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park is Celebrating Texas Innovation, highlighting integrated circuit, agricultural advances, space exploration, and food innovation.
The annual 24-day fair features livestock shows, carnival and midway fun, live concerts, exhibits and car shows, college football games inside the Cotton Bowl, and the fair’s famous fried foods. Look online for the daily schedule of entertainment:
New and notable entertainment includes:
- -The new Livestock Birthing Barn, located near the Coliseum, for a fun and educational experience that highlights the miracle of life through the incubation and birthing process of various livestock animals.
- -Redesigned from the ground up with state-of-art technology in mind, Home on the Range will be taking over the Coliseum this year and once you step inside, you’ll instantly be transported into a Texas farm town. Featuring Fair-time favorites like Little Hands on the Farm — a farm-to-market activity for little ones – and the Children’s Health Barnyard petting zoo, this all-new attraction is going to be “MOO-velous.”
- -As seen on Ellen DeGeneres Show and the Oprah Winfrey Show, the All-Star Stunt Dog Show performing daily in the Pan Am Arena is the world’s first and original “stunt dog show” of jumping rope, barrel racing, and even juggling. Best of all, each of the dogs in the show have been rescued from shelters and trained to showcase their unique talents.
- -Eat brick-oven pizza and perfectly grilled steaks at the Fair’s new Backyard Steak-Out and Pizzeria located on Nimitz Avenue near the Coliseum.
